This is my first attempt at working on an applique pillow. At this point, everything is just pinned together because I’m not sure about the background fabric. I’m wondering if another color will allow the applique fabric to stand out more. Maybe a contrasting color like pink or something? Or should I stick with a color in the applique flowers? So many decisions to make! It’s hard because all of these pillows that I work on this month will be the first in my Etsy shop, so the pressure is on! Any thoughts?
Ollie & Junebug WIP: Pretty in Pink April 6, 2008
Here is a pillow I started working on this weekend…in between laundry and cleaning and grocery shopping! I haven’t sewn it all up yet, because I’m still deciding if I’m satisfied with how it’s looking. Thinking maybe some darker pink for the flowers or maybe mixing in the darker and lighter pink for them. Thoughts are welcome!

WIP: Crocheted Pillow March 9, 2008
Just wanted to share what I got up to this weekend…besides photoshopping, upholstering our couch and rearranging the furniture in the living room to accommodate hubby’s monstrous new tv, that is. I really want all of my pillows to play on texture, so I set about a pillow cover that incorporates some of my crochet work. It’s only pinned onto the pillow form at this point, but here’s a sneak peak:
I unfortunately had no sunlight this weekend to work with, so I’ll have to try and get a better picture for you all later in the week. The fabric is a cocoa brown, and the crochet is a teal, tan, and chocolate brown mix. I think I might want to incorporate one more element…so stay tuned for the finished product!
Ollie & Junebug Pillows February 13, 2008
So, here is what I got done over my weekend! I made a sample of the pillows I want to make. I have only used pins to put on the flowers so I can play with the designs I can make. I still think it’d be a good idea to do coordinating, simpler pillows that use the same fabrics/colors, so that I could sell sets. I’m not sure what a good price range would be for these. It seems most pillows on etsy are in the $25-35 range. What are your thoughts?
3am Brainstorm February 8, 2008
So, when I was up in the middle of the night thinking of random things instead of trying to get back to sleep, I was thinking about our theory that you should have a range of prices for your products on etsy. I think what I might do is have the fancier pillows, and then have coordinating pillows that have matching solids/patterns but are much quicker to producer. Then I can sell the coordinating pillows alone (lower price), the fancier pillows (moderate price), and then sell them as sets (higher price). So, if someone was looking for cute accent pillow for their couch, they could buy say, one of the more intricate ones and two matching coordinates. Thoughts?
